Rock formations and pools near the Bathing House at Howick, Northumberland. There were man strangely shaped rocks in this location.

Rocks and surf at Dunstanburgh Castle. The fast-moving clouds enabled a different scene effectively every few minutes. The emphasis here is on the rock in the foreground, but the ruins of the castle remain an important element in the scene.

Sunrise and Farne Islands. The shape of the early sun's rays are very suggestive of godly presence.

The Farne Islands over creamy surf at sunrise. The brightness of the sky is balanced with the shadows of the mid-and foreground with the use of a neutral density graduated filter.

Northumbrian Sunrise. The brightness of the sky is balanced with the shadows of the mid-and foreground with the use of a neutral density graduated filter. The colour was worth the early rise, and I like the small bit of reflection in the foreground. Note that the slow shutter speed has allowed the movement of the sea to be blurred, almost to creaminess.

Photographer of Bamburgh Castle. Another shot of the castle that included the photographer – intentionally. My shutter speed was low, allowing his movement to be visible.

Photographer of Bamburgh Castle in the rain. This chap was one of our party on a landscape photography workshop on Harkess Rocks, west of Bamburgh Castle. A shower blew in and most of us covered our equipment and waited for the rain to pass, but this intrepid operator decided that it was an opportunity. I had my little Fuji X100S handy and it did the job again, as it always does.
